Breast Enhancement
Among the many areas of cosmetic surgery, breast enhancement is one of the most highly-sought after. And because there seems to be a growing desire to achieve better breast shapes and sizes, several breast enhancement procedures have become available to satisfy different needs.
There are various reasons why people choose to undergo certain breast enhancement techniques. While majority of patients are dissatisfied with their breast sizes, some undergo certain procedures in order to address breast issues which resulted from specific heath conditions.
Breast augmentation, or sometimes referred to as augmentation mammoplasty, is a type of breast enhancement that involves placing an implant above the patient’s breast muscles or behind the breast tissue in order to improve the breasts’ appearance. There various designs, sizes, shapes, and materials of implants, which can be inserted through different incision locations. This cosmetic procedure necessitates expert surgical skills to obtain breasts that are very natural-looking.
Breast lift, which is medically-known as mastopexy, is fast-growing breast enhancement surgery. This is performed on patients who wish to reshape and lift their sagging breasts. Breast lift may be done along with breast implants, based on the patient’s desired outcome. The degree or “amount” of lift required typically dictates the length and number of incisions. Since there are several techniques involved, it is highly-advised that you discuss each option with your surgeon before deciding on a particular method.
Not all women who undergo breast enhancement desire bigger breasts. Breast reduction, surgery, or reduction mammoplasty, is done on patients whose breasts are oversized. This condition, which is more familiarly known in the medical field as breast hypertrophy, generally takes place during puberty or right after. Sometimes, oversized breasts are results of pregnancy. Either way, breasts that are too large are not only considered as unpleasant features for some, but these are likely to cause health problems as well. Although breast reduction is considered a type of enhancement surgery, it is usually chosen to prevent or minimize certain health conditions.
Male breast enhancement techniques are the same as those in women. Like the females, the men can also go through the same procedures and may choose alternatives like taking breast enhancement pills, breast enlargement exercises, and undergoing surgical implants as well.
Usually, surgery is not an option for the men. Thus, most of them combine breast enhancement supplements and exercise to achieve the desired breast growth. However, unlike women, men have the tendency to build muscles faster. This means, that if they only decide to do exercises and forego the supplements, they may only grow muscles but never their breasts.
Some men may also be faced with the oversized breasts problem. This issue can likewise be addressed using breast reduction – similar to that of the women’s. There are men who are actually born with breasts which are larger than normal. However, other factors can also influence the growth.
Breast reconstruction is another area of breast enhancement that is mostly performed on women who have had mastectomy, or the entire or partial removal of the breasts. Breast reconstruction aims to offer breast cancer patients with a higher self-esteem by providing them with “normal” looking breasts.
The cost of breast enhancement varies, depending on the type of surgery performed and the extent of the procedure. Also, the availability of surgeons and their expertise on the procedures will greatly affect the cost of the surgery. However, one thing is certain – breast enhancement does not come cheap. So, if you simply want to undergo a procedure for aesthetic purpose, you might want to consider the cheaper and non-invasive options like the natural breast enhancement means. After all, breasts are not the only basis of true beauty.
