Brow Lift

The forehead is one of the most favorite target spots of wrinkles. Since aging is an inevitable part of human existence, its effects are unavoidable as well. Most often, the forehead and brow area are the first ones to show these effects.

A brow lift, or otherwise known as the forehead lift, works to bring back a fresher and younger look to the forehead or the area just above the eyes. Brow lift targets those furrows and horizontal lines which make the face seem sad, angry, or tired. Also, this particular procedure aims to “fix” drooping eyebrows.

During a brow lift or forehead lift, the tissues and muscles which are responsible for the drooping or furrowing are corrected or eliminated to smoothen the forehead, reduce frown lines, and elevate the eyebrows.

Your doctor or surgeon may consider using the traditional surgical technique which involves an incision hidden behind the patient’s hairline. Brow lift may also be done by using an endoscope. This tool allows the doctor to perform brow lift with lesser number of incisions than the traditional. Both techniques are known to offer the same results.

An individual who is considering having a brow lift should understand the fact that the procedure does not work against puffy eyes, crow’s feet, or baggy eyelids. For such issues, wrinkle treatments or eyelid surgeries may be considered.

A brow lift may be done in various ways. The three most sought-after methods are: endoscopic brow lift, subcutaneous brow lift, and coronal brow lift. If for instance your surgeon recommends a method that is none of the three mentioned, then you are better off looking for another surgeon.

An endoscopic brow lift consists between four and six one-inch incisions behind the patient’s hairline. An endoscope is inserted through these incisions to allow the surgeon to look under the skin without having to make long incisions. This technique also makes it possible for the surgeon to do most things achieved through a coronal brow lift, with very few exceptions. The muscles causing the scowl may be reduced but endoscopic lift is not capable of directly modifying the muscles that bring about horizontal wrinkles. And because this particular method of lifting the brows has only been done starting 1995, there are no definite facts on how long its results will last.

Among the three brow lift methods, the subcutaneous forehead lift is the least performed. This type involves a horizontal incision just above the patient’s forehead, exactly where the hairline starts. All muscle modifications possible through the coronal brow lift can also be done in this type of method. Furthermore, the excess skin is also eliminated. And because this type requires the incision to be done just before the hairline, the patient’s hairline is not moved higher than where it previously was, unlike the other two techniques.

A coronal brow lift needs a long horizontal incision above the head that runs from one ear to the other. The incision allows the surgeon to make muscle alterations to prevent or reduce scowling and forehead wrinkles. Afterwards, around 1 to 2 cm of your scalp will be removed, with the remaining sewn together. Although this sounds morbid, this is actually the most trusted method of brow lift surgery.

Brow lift is widely-available. Whatever part of the country you are, there are cosmetic surgery centers available to provide you with this service. If you are looking for a Beverly Hills brow lift center, or a Texas brow lift clinic, you are sure to find one. However, before you decide on a particular surgeon or cosmetic surgery clinic, check out their credentials. After all, you do not choose to have brow lift to make your face appear worse than it actually is.
